A top price for Johann Heiss - as previously expected
The work Vulcan Surprising Venus And Mars In Bed Before An Assembly Of The Gods by Johann Heiss was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in February 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 206,500.00 (€ 157,886.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Vulcan Surprising Venus And Mars In Bed Before An Assembly Of The Gods is the most expensive artwork by Johann Heiss that we have observed at auctions so far.
