This artwork by Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2020. In the Old Master & British Drawings Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna auction, the work A leopard and leopardess with their cubs at the entrance of a cave sold for USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,902.55) - well above the upper estimate of USD 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gamblers at the Ridotto in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 2,504,000.00 (€ 1,833,089.31).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 88 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein erzielte im Januar 2020 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna wurde die Arbeit A leopard and leopardess with their cubs at the entrance of a cave für USD 18.750,00 (€ 16.902,55) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 10.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Gamblers at the Ridotto im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.504.000,00 (€ 1.833.089,31).
