Auction result misses estimated price range
In July last year a collector was able to acquire the work An album containing nine portraits of women by Johann Heinrich Tischbein the Elder for GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,582.53). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Johann Heinrich Tischbein the Elder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Countess Augusta von Reuss-Ebersdorf And Lobenstein, Half-Length, As Artemisia in May 2006 with an auction result of EUR 34,800.00.
