Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Said To Be Of Baron Münchhausen, Seated In Profile, With His Dog by Johann Heinrich Ramberg for USD 3,300.00 (€ 2,538.85). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Drawings at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Heinrich Ramberg - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ein Flußgott liebkost ein nacktes Mädchen in seiner Wassergrotte, which sold at auction in October 2004 for EUR 5,265.00.
