Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings Including Property From the Collection of Jacques Goudstikker, which included the work An Arab horse with an oriental groom by Johann Georg de Hamilton. The price achieved of USD 132,000.00 (€ 96,632.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Georg de Hamilton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Bay Stallion Held By A Groom In A Landscape; And An Arab Stallion Held By A Groom In Oriental Costume, In A Landscape, which sold at auction in December 2013 for GBP 260,000.00 (€ 312,739.68).
