Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A wooded clearing with a huntsman at rest with his hound and a dead hare, woodcock and other birds by Johann Friedrich Seupel was sold in the Old Master & British Pictures auction at Christies in London in October 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,867.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Friedrich Seupel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Weisse Eichhörnchen., which sold at auction in March this year for CHF 7,500.00 (€ 7,556.57).
