Auction result well in line with expectations
The work View of the interior of the Colosseum, Rome by Johann Franciscus Ermels was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,500.00 – 4,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,397.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Franciscus Ermels - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A wooded landscape with travellers resting amongst classical ruins, which sold at auction in December 2003 for GBP 11,950.00 (€ 16,925.61).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit View of the interior of the Colosseum, Rome von Johann Franciscus Ermels kam im Juli 2021 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.500,00 – 4.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.397,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Johann Franciscus Ermels mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A wooded landscape with travellers resting amongst classical ruins beobachtet, die im Dezember 2003 für GBP 11.950,00 (€ 16.925,61) versteigert wurde.
