Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2008 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work Dutch Shell Fishers On The Beach by Johan Frederik Cornelis Scherrewitz. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 16,250.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Johan Frederik Cornelis Scherrewitz have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shellfishers in the breakers in April 2001 with an auction result of NLG 188,000.00 (€ 86,288.48).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2008 führte Sothebys in Amsterdam die Auktion 19th Century European Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dutch Shell Fishers On The Beach von Johan Frederik Cornelis Scherrewitz zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 16.250,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Johan Frederik Cornelis Scherrewitz auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Shellfishers in the breakers im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von NLG 188.000,00 (€ 86.288,48).
