Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jean-Victor Bertin could be acquired at Christies in London in May this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve auction, the work A view of a sunlit courtyard with a trough, seen through an archway changed hands for USD 45,360.00 (€ 42,575.56) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Other works by Jean-Victor Bertin have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in January 2011 by the work The Ruins Of The Bridge Of Augustus At Narni at USD 92,500.00 (€ 67,444.40).
