Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art, which included the work 'Le Singe Peintre' by Jean Siméon Chardin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 301,000.00 (€ 202,816.52) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Siméon Chardin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Basket Of Wild Strawberries in March last year with an auction result of EUR 24,381,400.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Le Singe Peintre' von Jean Siméon Chardin zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300.000,00 – 400.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 301.000,00 (€ 202.816,52) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Siméon Chardin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Basket Of Wild Strawberries im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 24.381.400,00.
