Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Le Singe Antiquaire; Le Singe Peintre by Jean Siméon Chardin was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,025,600.00 (€ 789,044.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Siméon Chardin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Basket Of Wild Strawberries in March last year with an auction result of EUR 24,381,400.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Le Singe Antiquaire; Le Singe Peintre von Jean Siméon Chardin kam im Januar 2007 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000.000,00 – 1.500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.025.600,00 (€ 789.044,47) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Siméon Chardin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Basket Of Wild Strawberries im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 24.381.400,00.
