This artwork by Jean Raoux achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2005. In the Old Master Pictures auction, the work Portrait of a lady, bust-length, in a blue and brown silk dress with muslin trimmings and a pearl necklace looking into a dressing-table mirror sold for GBP 32,400.00 (€ 47,026.79) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jean Raoux; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot L'incontro di Enea e Didone prima della caccia reale sold at auction in December 2001 with the realized price of ITL 71,050,000.00 (€ 63,857.99).
