In May 2021 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction 20th and 21st Century Art Evening Sale, which included the work Untitled (One Eyed Man Or Xerox Face) by Jean-Michel Basquiat. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 234,290,000.00 (€ 24,766,262.92), 38% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean-Michel Basquiat - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in May 2017 for USD 110,487,500.00 (€ 98,333,481.67).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2021 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th and 21st Century Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (One Eyed Man Or Xerox Face) von Jean-Michel Basquiat zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 234.290.000,00 (€ 24.766.262,92) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Jean-Michel Basquiat mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im Mai 2017 für USD 110.487.500,00 (€ 98.333.481,67) versteigert wurde.
