Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work After the Swim by Jean MacLane was auctioned at Bonhams in Paris in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,120.00 (€ 4,805.71). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean MacLane - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bathers, which sold at auction in November last year for USD 19,125.00 (€ 18,526.59).
