The work Une foire au village by Jean-Louis de Marne was sold in the DESSINS ET TABLEAUX ANCIENS ET DU 19EME auction at Christies in Paris in December 2004. The price achieved of EUR 35,250.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Other works by Jean-Louis de Marne have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in January 2005 the work Travelling peasants with their cattle and sheep in a landscape; and Figures with animals outside an inn beside a wheat field was auctioned for USD 72,000.00 (€ 55,176.64).
