Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Landscape With Figures And Sheep by Jean-Louis de Marne was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 875.00 (€ 807.79). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Louis de Marne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Travelling peasants with their cattle and sheep in a landscape; and Figures with animals outside an inn beside a wheat field in January 2005 with an auction result of USD 72,000.00 (€ 55,176.64).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Travelling peasants with their cattle and sheep in a landscape; and Figures with animals outside an inn beside a wheat field im Januar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 72.000,00 (€ 55.176,64).
