Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Design for the upper part of a tureen crowned with the figure of Calliope bearing a trumpet and laurel crown, and decorated with a frieze of masks and putti holding garlands by Jean-Guillaume Moitte was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2008. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,770.16). Admittedly, works by Jean-Guillaume Moitte have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cornelie, Mere Des Gracques in April 2008 with an auction result of EUR 37,176.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Design for the upper part of a tureen crowned with the figure of Calliope bearing a trumpet and laurel crown, and decorated with a frieze of masks and putti holding garlands von Jean-Guillaume Moitte kam im Mai 2008 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 3.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.770,16) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean-Guillaume Moitte auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Cornelie, Mere Des Gracques im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 37.176,00.
