Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work L'Agreable Négligé; and Compagne de Pomone by Jean-François Janinet was auctioned at Christies in London in January 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 120.00 (€ 181.05). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-François Janinet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nina, ou La Folle par amour, after C. Hoin (Inventaire du Fond Français 18e siècle, XII, no.70) in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 1,912.00 (€ 2,845.63).
