Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jean Baptiste Joseph Duchesne could be acquired at Christies in New York in July 2002 for an unexpectedly low price. In the THE HOUSE SALE auction, the work Musee Francais: Recueil Des Plus Beaux tableaux, Statues, et Bas-Reliefs Qui Existaient Au Louvre Avant: Six Plates changed hands for USD 1,195.00 (€ 1,219.89) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Baptiste Joseph Duchesne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Princesse De Marie D'Orléans, Future Princesse De Württemberg (1813-1839) in September 2015 with an auction result of EUR 30,000.00.
