Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Half Length, In A Powdered Wig, Before A Column by Jean-Baptiste Oudry was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2020. It changed hands for a price of USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,204.08) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Baptiste Oudry achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Album containing a frontispiece and 138 illustrations for books I to VI of the Fables of Jean de La Fontaine in January this year with an auction result of USD 2,700,000.00 (€ 2,486,645.79).

Die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, Half Length, In A Powdered Wig, Before A Column von Jean-Baptiste Oudry kam im Februar 2020 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 11.250,00 (€ 10.204,08) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Baptiste Oudry erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Album containing a frontispiece and 138 illustrations for books I to VI of the Fables of Jean de La Fontaine im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.700.000,00 (€ 2.486.645,79).
