The work Le Lion, Le Singe Et Les Deux Ânes by Jean-Baptiste Oudry was sold in the Old Master Day Sale including Old Master Paintings, Drawings and British Works on Paper auction at Sothebys in London in July 2020. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 27,500.00 (€ 30,674.15), 53% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Baptiste Oudry achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Album containing a frontispiece and 138 illustrations for books I to VI of the Fables of Jean de La Fontaine in January this year with an auction result of USD 2,700,000.00 (€ 2,486,645.79).
