Auction result misses estimated price range

In May last year a collector was able to acquire the work L'Amour à la folie (Cupid playing) by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux for EUR 3,276.00. This price was achieved in the auction Collection Jacques Ginepro, Une Vie de Sculptures at Sothebys in Paris and was even below the estimate range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ugolin in March 2019 with an auction result of EUR 455,400.00.

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Im Mai letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit L'Amour à la folie (Cupid playing) von Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux für EUR 3.276,00 erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Collection Jacques Ginepro, Une Vie de Sculptures bei Sothebys in Paris erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ugolin im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 455.400,00.
