Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Red and white roses in a brass urn with a porcelain bowl and vase on a stone ledge by Jacques-Charles Dutillieu was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,800.00 (€ 7,123.80). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacques-Charles Dutillieu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Carnations, peonies, narcissi and other flowers in an urn on a ledge; and A parrot tulip, peonies and other flowers in an urn on a ledge, which sold at auction in May 2003 for USD 23,900.00 (€ 20,312.77).
