Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work A Family Portrait On The Grounds Of A Villa With An Italianate Harbor Scene Beyond by Jan Weenix. The price achieved of USD 170,500.00 (€ 130,621.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Other works by Jan Weenix have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2000 the work A sunflower, roses, parrot tulips, a carnation and other flowers in a glass vase on a partly draped marble table was auctioned for GBP 135,750.00 (€ 219,505.96).
