This artwork by Jan Vonck achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2012. In the Christie's Interiors - Masters & Makers auction, the work A woodcock, a kingfisher, a thrush and a greattit on a stone ledge sold for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,858.07) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jan Vonck; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Pheasants hanging from a rope, with a 'snipe' and songbirds on a stone ledge sold at auction in November 2007 with the realized price of EUR 8,650.00.
