Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2003 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES AND DRAWINGS, which included the work A barn interior with a peasant family by Jan Spanjaert. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 4,302.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Spanjaert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Tavern Interior With Peasants Drinking; A Tavern Interior With Peasants Smoking Drinking And Playing Cards, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,685.70).
