This artwork by Jan Jansz. van de Velde achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2018. In the Old Masters Evening Sale auction, the work Still Life With Oysters And Smoking Supplies sold for GBP 75,000.00 (€ 84,091.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 40,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Jansz. van de Velde have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life With A Glass Of Beer, A Pipe, Tobacco And Other Requisites Of Smoking in January 2009 with an auction result of USD 842,500.00 (€ 657,997.50).

In der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Still Life With Oysters And Smoking Supplies für GBP 75.000,00 (€ 84.091,49) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 40.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Jansz. van de Velde auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still Life With A Glass Of Beer, A Pipe, Tobacco And Other Requisites Of Smoking im Januar 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 842.500,00 (€ 657.997,50).
