This artwork by Jan Jansz. Buesem achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in April 2020. In the The Rafael Valls Sale auction, the work A Sorceress In A Wood Surrounded By Devils sold for GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,189.64) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Jansz. Buesem have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A couple standing by pots and pans in a stable, boors smoking and drinking at tables beyond in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 37,600.00 (€ 40,308.75).
