A top price for Jan Gossaert - as previously expected
The work The Virgin And Child by Jan Gossaert was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2015. The price achieved of GBP 4,629,000.00 (€ 6,285,959.48) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000,000.00 – 6,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Virgin And Child is the most expensive artwork by Jan Gossaert that we have observed at auctions so far.
