In January 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings Part II, which included the work Cleopatra and the Asp in an elegant interior by Jan Berents. The »bidding war« ended at USD 12,600.00 (€ 10,383.19), 58% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Berents - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pan And Syrinx, Within An Elaborate Decorative Border, which sold at auction in January 2016 for USD 28,750.00 (€ 26,541.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cleopatra and the Asp in an elegant interior von Jan Berents zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 12.600,00 (€ 10.383,19) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Jan Berents mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Pan And Syrinx, Within An Elaborate Decorative Border beobachtet, die im Januar 2016 für USD 28.750,00 (€ 26.541,73) versteigert wurde.
