A top price for James Whaite - as previously expected
In November 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction A Living Legacy: Irish Art from the Collection of Brian P. Burns, which included the work Bantry Bay by James Whaite. The price achieved of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 6,767.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Bantry Bay is the most expensive artwork by James Whaite that we have observed at auctions so far.
