The work Sydney Pub, 'The Newcastle' by James Vanderler Wigley was auctioned at Christies in Melbourne in November 2002. The price achieved of AUD 1,762.50 (€ 993.94) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Sydney Pub, 'The Newcastle' is the most expensive artwork by James Vanderler Wigley that we have observed at auctions so far.
