Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Gondolas on the Grand Canal; and A Venetian canal scene, Venice by James Salt was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,986.66). Admittedly, works by James Salt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Venetian cappriccio; and A Venetian backwater in March 2004 with an auction result of GBP 15,535.00 (€ 23,254.47).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Gondolas on the Grand Canal; and A Venetian canal scene, Venice von James Salt im Dezember 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.360,00 (€ 4.986,66) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Salt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Venetian cappriccio; and A Venetian backwater im März 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.535,00 (€ 23.254,47).
