Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Old City, Sanaa, Yemen by James Reeve was sold in the Travel, Science and Natural History auction at Christies in London in April 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 750.00 (€ 863.10) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Reeve achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Basket Of Birds' Eggs In A Potosí Landscape (Canasta De Huevos De Pájaro En Un Paisaje Potosino) in November 2008 with an auction result of USD 16,250.00 (€ 12,801.32).
