Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Thomas Aldersey of Aldersey (1634-1715), three-quarter-length, in barristers robes by James Fellowes was sold in the British and Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in September 2003. The price achieved of GBP 1,645.00 (€ 1,656.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Fellowes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Margaret Aldersey, three-quarter-length, in a yellow dress and blue wrap, a sqirrel by her side, which sold at auction in September 2003 for GBP 4,112.50 (€ 4,142.41).
