In October 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction British & Continental Paintings, which included the work Innocent Beauty by James Doyle Penrose. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,125.00 (€ 11,668.03), 63% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Doyle Penrose - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A playful parry, which sold at auction in March 2008 for GBP 20,900.00 (€ 26,255.58).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen

Im Oktober 2007 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion British & Continental Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Innocent Beauty von James Doyle Penrose zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 11.668,03) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von James Doyle Penrose mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A playful parry beobachtet, die im März 2008 für GBP 20.900,00 (€ 26.255,58) versteigert wurde.
