Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by James Clarke Hook could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in October 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale auction, the work British The Acre By The Sea changed hands for USD 28,125.00 (€ 22,177.10) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Clarke Hook - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Gull Catcher, which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 38,240.00 (€ 55,829.19).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von James Clarke Hook konnte im Oktober 2008 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale wechselte die Arbeit British The Acre By The Sea für USD 28.125,00 (€ 22.177,10) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von James Clarke Hook mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Gull Catcher beobachtet, die im Februar 2003 für GBP 38.240,00 (€ 55.829,19) versteigert wurde.
