A top price for James Brenan - as previously expected
The work Bankrupt by James Brenan was sold in the A Living Legacy: Irish Art from the Collection of Brian P. Burns auction at Sothebys in London in November 2018. The price achieved of GBP 50,000.00 (€ 56,398.48) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Bankrupt is the most expensive artwork by James Brenan that we have observed at auctions so far.
