Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A bearded iris and three violets by Jacques Le Moyne de Morgues was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings auction at Christies in New York in January 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 54,566.09) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacques Le Moyne de Morgues - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two narcissi and a columbine, a dragonfly and a stag beetle, which sold at auction in January 2019 for USD 137,500.00 (€ 120,045.40).
