In December 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings Day Sale, which included the work A View Of Amsterdam,With The Paalhuis At The Nieuwe Brug Over The Damrak In The Foreground, And The Haringpakkerstoren And The Nieuwe Stadsherberg In The Distance by Jacobus Storck. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 49,250.00 (€ 51,726.83), 64% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jacobus Storck; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Amsterdam, A View On The Overtoom sold at auction in May 2012 with the realized price of GBP 63,650.00 (€ 79,305.10).
