Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2010 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours (Day Sale), which included the work A capriccio of a Mediterranean harbour with a Dutch ship at anchor, a churchyard with a classical column on the embankment, figures descending to the beach the steps of a baroque church by Jacobus Storck. The price achieved of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 21,749.94) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacobus Storck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Amsterdam, A View On The Overtoom, which sold at auction in May 2012 for GBP 63,650.00 (€ 79,305.10).
