This artwork by Jacobus Biltius achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2002. In the Important Old Master Pictures auction, the work Trompe l'oeil of a partridge suspended from a nail; and Trompe l'oeil of a snipe suspended from a nail sold for GBP 41,825.00 (€ 66,712.50) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jacobus Biltius; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Trompe L'Oeil Still Life With Two Quails, A Kingfisher, A Bird Net And A Whistle sold at auction in December 2010 with the realized price of GBP 61,250.00 (€ 71,049.82).
