Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2000 Christies in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait of a couple in pastoral dress, possibly portrayed as Venus and Adonis, full-length in a landscape with huntsmen nearby by Jacob van Oost I. The price achieved of USD 58,750.00 (€ 62,982.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacob van Oost I - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Head of a young girl, which sold at auction in January 2012 for USD 266,500.00 (€ 204,167.62).

Im Mai 2000 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a couple in pastoral dress, possibly portrayed as Venus and Adonis, full-length in a landscape with huntsmen nearby von Jacob van Oost I zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 58.750,00 (€ 62.982,42) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Jacob van Oost I mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Head of a young girl beobachtet, die im Januar 2012 für USD 266.500,00 (€ 204.167,62) versteigert wurde.
