This artwork by Jacob Matham achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2004. In the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings auction, the work Venus and Cupid sold for USD 19,120.00 (€ 15,354.96) - well above the upper estimate of USD 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacob Matham - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Jupiter and Danaë, which sold at auction in January 2001 for USD 29,375.00 (€ 31,558.87).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Jacob Matham erzielte im Januar 2004 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings wurde die Arbeit Venus and Cupid für USD 19.120,00 (€ 15.354,96) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 10.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Jacob Matham mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Jupiter and Danaë beobachtet, die im Januar 2001 für USD 29.375,00 (€ 31.558,87) versteigert wurde.
