Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life Of Fish And A Cat, With A Copper Basin by Jakob Gillig was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,625.00 (€ 9,104.54) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jakob Gillig - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A still life of freshwater fish piled high in a stone niche, which sold at auction in June 2015 for EUR 32,500.00.
