Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Girl, In Off-The-Shoulder Pale Blue Dress With Pink Sash, Her Centre-Parted Brown Hair Dressed In Ringlets, Holding A Black And White Spaniel In Her Arms; Foliate Background by J. Fisher was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in June 2007. The price achieved of GBP 960.00 (€ 1,424.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by J. Fisher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two sketchbooks of drawings and watercolours, the majority of topographical and maritime subjects including: Salisbury; Preston Church (illustrated); Netley Abbey; Harwich; Southampton; and others, some signed with initials, the majority inscribed an in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 14,900.00 (€ 21,397.38).
