Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A cottage at the bend of the river by J. Barclay was sold in the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES auction at Christies in London in August 2002. The price achieved of GBP 141.00 (€ 222.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25.00 – 200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by J. Barclay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The faggot gatherers; and Crossing the river in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 2,390.00 (€ 3,585.88).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 141,00 (€ 222,53) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 25,00 – 200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von J. Barclay erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The faggot gatherers; and Crossing the river im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.390,00 (€ 3.585,88).
