Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Maria Theresa Of Savoy, Comtesse D’Artois (1756-1805), Circa 1778 by Ignazio Pio Vittoriano Campana was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures auction at Sothebys in London in April last year. The price achieved of GBP 5,040 (€ 5,797) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been given by the auction house as GBP 4,000 - 6,000. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ignazio Pio Vittoriano Campana - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Empress Maria Fyodorovna of Russia (1759-1828), Née Duchess Sophie Dorothy of Württemberg, In Lace-Bordered Pale Blue Dress, Matching Bandeau And Straw Hat Adorned With Multi-Coloured Flowers And Foliage In Her Long Powdered Curling Hair Falling To, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 15,600 (€ 2
