Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary African Art, which included the work Khatim Ou Ecriture by Ibou Diouf. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,074.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ibou Diouf have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Les Garmis de Gaabu in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 24,625.00 (€ 28,928.03).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Khatim Ou Ecriture von Ibou Diouf zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.074,69) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ibou Diouf auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Les Garmis de Gaabu im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 24.625,00 (€ 28.928,03).
