Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2002 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Weighing the Pondi by Ian Abdulla. The price achieved of AUD 2,937.50 (€ 1,656.56) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ian Abdulla achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Putting Sprinklers On Tomatoes At Night" in August 2001 with an auction result of AUD 30,550.00 (€ 17,735.13).

Im November 2002 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Weighing the Pondi von Ian Abdulla zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 2.937,50 (€ 1.656,56) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ian Abdulla erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Putting Sprinklers On Tomatoes At Night" im August 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 30.550,00 (€ 17.735,13).
